Central Mosque of Almaty

In July, 1999, in Almaty city was opened a new Central Mosque- one of the biggest in Kazakhstan.It`s meant for 7000 visitors. Majestic building decorated with marble and colored glazed tile, carried out in Kazakh national motives. Mosque is crowned by blue dome 20 meters in diameter and 36 meters high. The height of big minaret is 47 m. Among the other Islamic and orthodox cultural constructions, there are synagogues in Almaty and also Buddhist temples different nation-cultural centers.
