Kasteyev Museum of Fine Arts possesses the best collection of artworks in all the country, including the works of artists prohibited during the Soviet period. Comparatively new type of weaving for Kazakhstan – tapestry is enjoying wide popularity.The history of its development began from the end of thirties of XXth century. Outlines were made by famous Kazakh artist A. Kasteyev, A. Ismailov, G. Ismailov, N. Cjivchinskiy, and tapestry were weaved by folk masters in techniques of traditional kazah weaving.
