Such are the ways of the world that the any country is jugged by its capital market. The shopping center Alma-Ata is especially popular among the citizens and guests of Almaty, it`s one of the 80 markets, in the southern capital of the republic. You can buy everything - from the fragrant Pasternak bunch of greenery to Piala sparkling and foaming Kumys. Try a dip in the crowd, noise, colors, and smells of the Bazaar, to feel its eastern atmosphere. Initially, you can be scared by the hubbub and start worrying for your purse. Of course, it is necessary to think about safety, but after a while, wandering past the fragrant fruit, juicy vegetables, you relax and enter into the taste of market bargaining.
In the traditional way the Central Market is called Green Bazaar because from olden times here were selling fresh greenery. Bazaar met buyer with mountains of vegetables and fruits, bunches of greenery and grapes, dark red Oporto apples and giant radish, baskets of strawberries, raspberries and other delicious mountains of berries. This and other markets of the old Alma-Ata, known for its refreshment stalls. Only here you can taste anything that you want - from the eastern sweets to spices and spicy dishes. For example, to try Vernenskoe beer with shark fins from the Japanese islands.
Citizens, however, preferred the pelmeni - a kind of apex of Siberian cuisine (there were a large Diaspora of Siberian Cossacks) that became the favorite dish of Kazakh homes. Along with the dumplings there were pancakes, cakes, pies with any filling.

Particular attention of the buyers is attracted by Oporto apples variety - the pride of Kazakhstan horticulture. It`s impossible to go past stalls with large bright red fruits, inviting to enjoy their fragrant pulp with honey taste. Attractive appearance, good taste, lightness and transportability of Oporto favoured the fact that it had long held a leading position in Semirechye. And in all fairness they are called Cesar-apple, Father of apples.
